Pastor Kenny Powers Testimony

I have never set down in words my full testimony of how I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior.  Since the short version might lead you to ask more questions this will be somewhat lengthy.

I grew up on a small corn and soybean farm in central Illinois and I enjoyed life as a young boy.  I attended a small Church and when I was 9 sexually assaulted by the spiritual leader of the Church.  At this exact time my parents were away on a vacation so I told the lady (my cousin) who was babysitting me what had happened.

How to stand firm in the Christian faith: Col 2:11-23

I am continuing my teaching today in Colossians Chapter 2 verses 11-23.  Colossians Chapter 2 is dealing with how to stand firm in our faith, as we look around America, and indeed the world, we see that the Church is not standing firm in its walk with Jesus Christ.  Lets pick up here in verse 11.

11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with

Growth promised by God's grace. 2 Peter 1-7

We find as we go through the New Testament that the modern day Church has collapsed, it has fell a long, long way.  The foundation the Church was built on no longer is there.  Too many are teaching man's word today instead of God's Word!

1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Peter starts by letting us know who he is and what he is.

How to stand firm in the Christian faith Col 2:1-10

As we study the Bible we read about the "men of old" like Job who wasa perfect and an upright man
Job 1:8 (KJV), but what does it take to stand strong in todays day in time?  Lets look at the book of Colossians, Chapter 2.

1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, andforthem at Laodicea, andforas many as have not seen my face in the flesh; 2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; 3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Why the Church is collapsing

I did not grow up Christian so as I became a Christian in 2005 I have noticed a rapid deterioration of our culture, people do not seem to have values and integrity like men of old.  Why is this?  Why is Communist China the #1 Christian nation in the world today?  What has happened to America?

At one point in time, years ago, most of our Churches in America taught the same thing and baptized the same way.  Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal were like this.

Does Jesus still heal?

Does Jesus still heal?

Acts 10:38 (KJV)
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

1 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

Holy Communion

Communion is vital to our spiritual walk with The Lord Jesus Christ, please take it seriously when you accept communion.

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Why should you share God's Word?

If we believe in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ then we will not be silent about it, and will share it with everyone around us in any way we can.  We do this out of love for the lost and dying of this world.  It is important to share God's Word just as its written, and not to alter it in any way.  If we alter His Word then it becomes our word and not His, making it of none effect.  This is why so many going to "Church" are not being taught His Word, but instead are taught man made doctrines which are useless to defeat the enemy's power over our lives.

What is a Saint?

What is a Saint?  Is it someone dead?  Is it someone still alive?  Lets take a look at what constitutes a saint.

Salute everysaintin Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.  All thesaintssalute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christbewith you all. Amen.
Phil 4:21-23 (KJV)

If Paul told the Philippians to salute the saints, and likewise thesaintssalute them it stands to reason that the saints are not dead, but alive!

Is disagreement hatred?

Can disagreement be called hate?  Can agreement be hate also?  The first thing everyone must decide is who or what is truth?  Once you've decided what is undeniable truth and fact, then you have the peace of mind to make the correct choice that you can stand on.  To quote Pontius Pilate when he asked Jesus what is truth, lets take a look at what truth is, so we can further understand what agreement and disagreement really means.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
